Tooth Colored Fillings
Composite fillings or “white or tooth –colored” fillings have been around for several decades and are very popular due to their cosmetic appeal. They are used primarily where there is tooth decay. Tooth colored fillings can also be used for “chips” in teeth. There are many shades available allowing the dentist to effectively match the natural color of the patient’s teeth. One of the advantages to composite fillings is the fact that they are bonded, allowing the dentist to be more conservative with the amount of tooth structure that has to be removed for the filling material. Composite fillings, just like all restorative work, can stain and discolor over time so it is imperative that the patient has good home care habits to help maintain the restoration for as long as possible.
