Digital X-Rays
Dental x-rays allow the dentist to diagnose conditions that aren’t always revealed by a routine clinical exam. Such as cavities between the teeth, periodontal disease, infections, cysts, and tumors. The number and frequency of digital x-rays taken is based off an individual’s need. Dental x-rays emit very low radiation when compared to other types of films and even less when digital is used. At Albritton & Ardovino we use digital x-rays, which have around 80% less radiation than the standard dental film. One standard dental film is 0.005mSV compared to one digital dental film of 0.001mSv. For comparison purposes, a standard chest x-ray is around 0.1mSv and a CT of the chest is around 7.0mSv.
