Implant Overdentures
Complete dentures may also be retained with implants if the patient is a candidate, which typically leads to increased retention of the denture. The amount of implants needed to help retain the denture is case dependent and will be decided on with the surgeon and restorative dentist. In most cases, the denture is fabricated first. Implants can be placed during this time and allowed to heal. Once the implants are ready to restore, the denture is modified internally to facilitate attachments to the implants. Implant retained dentures require periodic maintenance as the internal attachments wear out and need to be replaced.
